Travels With Spike

Well poor Spike has been sitting on top of the last of the unpacked boxes for more than a week now.  I probably should take the poor guy out to play - but he looks so very comfortable. . .

And I've been working - boring, dull, not at all interesting show up at the office in Bellevue at 7:30 a.m. every day - after all the travel and relaxation having the alarm go off at 5:45 a.m. is just sick and wrong.

The up side is that even with all the work, I've also been playing - wonderful, amazing, incredible, I think I'm a little bit in love play - it's so good to experience that part of a new relationship without any pressure to make it more than it is right now.

I am very happy in my new home.

Spike is Home!  I have incredible friends who came over on moving day and kept me from turning into a complete crazy person.  They did things like bringing over all the essentials - paper plates, napkins, toilet paper, a bottle of wine, plastic cups, and a corkscrew.   And just being around all day helping out wherever it was needed, doing things like going to the store (twice) to get screws to put the bed together when I couldn't remember the "safe" place I'd put them.  I am very lucky to have people like that who care about me.  I hope I never take them for granted.

Now the boxes are empty (ok, 98% of them are empty and I ran out of cupboards), there are pictures on the walls, food in the fridge, the bed got put together, and most of the time I remember where I put things.

I've had an amazing time traveling and it's really wonderful to be settling down again.  Curling up in my big chair (which is also my only chair) with a book and a fire is so relaxing.

Now if I could just remember to plug in the batteries for the camera I could put up photos of the place.  Oh well, wouldn't want to start being organized or anything.  People would start to expect it.  Then where would I be?

Today was officially a terrible day.  As wonderful as Wednesday was, this was a direct opposite.  I'm not sure how it all happened.  But it feels like the wheels fell off of everything, nothing is going right, and I don't know how to fix it.

The way the day has gone it could be a disastrous mistake to do anything other than crawl into bed and pull the covers over my head but I'm going to try going out to dinner and having a good time - maybe that will turn things around.

And maybe Spike should just hit the road again - I think he's been idle too long and we might have to do a weekend road trip somewhere after the move.  Too bad it's too cold for camping - we had an awfully good time, even with the typhoon and that nasty sand up the nose incident that he just won't stop complaining about.  (Dogs are so particular sometimes. . . .)

OK, I'm rambling on about conversation with a stuffed dog - I think that means it's time to stop. . . .

It was one of those days where some things went really right - like finishing the project at work two days ahead of schedule.  And some things didn't work at all - like having three copies of the key to my new apartment made and having none of them work.  And some things were down right amazing - dinner with friends who haven't seen each other in a long time - and finding out yet another friend is the new chef at our favorite restaurant.

My life is amazing and filled with wonderful people that I love.

Spike is finally settling down and moving into a fabulous new apartment on Magnolia.  The movers come on Saturday and hopefully we'll be all settled and unpacked and ready for a housewarming party in a couple of weeks.

And while the settling down thing is necessary as I can't stand living out of suitcases anymore, Spike is going to start getting out and about more often.  He's had a good long rest hanging out in the wine rack and he's ready to play again.  So look for what mischief he might be getting up to soon.

Spike had a great holiday with his nieces and nephew - sadly the only photos I have of the grand event do not include Spike. But here is one with me and the Three Ms. It was great to see them.

Spike was dressed for the occasion in the Santa suit the kids gave him for Christmas.  They took pains to tell me that the outfit was actually a dress for Mrs. Santa as they were concerned the Mr. Santa outfit wouldn't fit over Spike's big feet.  Good thing Spike doesn't mind doing drag.  ;-)

I promised I'd post the rest of the pictures of Spike's decadent weekend in Victoria. WARNING!  These contain content that may be disturbing to some.  View on at your own risk.

Spike is behind the wheel of Travis's Jeep...we had a hard time getting him to move over to the passenger side and when he finally did, of course he had to stick his head out the window.

Then, while Travis and I were getting unpacked and settled, we turned around and look what we found!

He even brought the monkey along.  Bad Dog!

Finally, the boys all snuggled up in their beds.  Awwhh.

It's been a long week (work got in the way of fun) so I haven't had time to post about Spike's trip with Travis and me to Victoria.  We went to a birthday celebration/mini conference put on by Sagacity, Victoria's local fetish organization.  I was invited to present a workshop on Polyamory and took one of my favorite guys with me and also Travis.  :)

You saw by Janice's early post that Spike once again couldn't stay away from the Washington State Patrol.  I think he's got a uniform fetish.   I've only got two pictures to post today. (as soon as I find the cable for my camera I'll post the rest.)   As you can see by the first picture, Travis taught Spike how to drive. (There's more photos coming of his time behind the wheel...turns out he likes fast cars and fast monkeys and wait until you see what he and the Pig did)   Driving was the beginning of Spike's downfall.  Put a puppy behind the wheel and they soon become a dog.  The second picture was taken when we got back.  Proof of Spike's decline into depravity.  First sneaking into exhibits at the museum and now fast cars, fast pigs, smoking, spiked collars, chains and a monkey...what's left?

I just keep getting little teaser pictures from Allena - she is very busy with work but has promised an update soon. Meanwhile - I heard that Spike did get a new outfit. . . .

And a new friend - I love the little monkey.  I think he might need a pony too. . .

As for those of us who are suffering Spike withdrawal - we'll be making up for the lack by having dinner in Long Beach and catching up with a friend.

Question for you:  who said "Even the strongest have their moments of fatigue"?

Today is going to be a lazy Sunday.  I'm going to read and watch movies and maybe go for a walk.

Right now I'm helping (read watching here) Skippy drain some water from the fish tank as it needs to be changed.  And as I watch this process I find myself wondering if the fish are in there panicking thinking that there world is shrinking.  Maybe they think a hole has opened in their ozone layer.  Maybe the hole in our ozone layer is really whomever's fish tank we live in replacing some of the water.  Maybe I should go out for that walk. . . .
